On February 11, Portland Outdoor Explorers hosted a fundraiser and open house at Bridge City Community Church to talk with parents about our upcoming programming and to raise initial funds for the business.
Thanks to your generosity, we were able to raise $1224.12 on the 11th! This money will be instrumental in getting us off the ground so we are ready to serve you March 1.

Thanks to generous donations from supporters, friends, and family, we had lots of quality items to sell at our rummage sale.
Foam swords were a huge hit at the rummage sale, with all swords made by Wolf selling out. Attendees had lots of fun testing the swords, too.

Laura led a cozy and fun demonstration on foraging by making dandelion root tea. She included instructions for making it at home, as well as warnings for avoiding herbicides and pesticides.
Wolf and Sam hosted a station for cooking with fire, complete with hand-carved roasting sticks.
They had a blast roasting hot dogs and marshmallows with parents and students while teaching fire safety.
There’s nothing like fire-roasted food on a cold day!

Attendees also spent time at an art station. When asked “How do you explore your neighborhood,” three kids responded with artwork of them riding their scooter and looking at flowers, leaves, and sunshine.
If you weren’t able to attend our event on February 11, there is still time to donate! We are close to reaching our fundraising goal of $5,000 on our GoFundMe. Thank you for any time or resources you can provide.
