Our first month exploring 🥾

Two elementary school students look at a neighborhood chicken coop with two chickens inside.

Where has the time gone? We’ve already finished our first month of programming – time flies when you’re having fun exploring. Each after-school location is enjoying the beginning of spring.

Our Rose City Park crew spent time looking at all the blooming flowers on their daily neighborhood walks. They also met a neighbor’s chickens and learned their names. They even found a few rooting maple seeds and planted them – stay tuned to see if they sprout!

Alameda’s after-school group has been exploring Wilshire Park and getting especially excited about finding bugs and crocuses. The south side of the park was full of thousands of little purple crocuses, which felt pretty magical. Worms and beetles were found under bark, logs, and large rocks. The group put a few of them in jars to get a closer look before returning them to the woods.

It isn’t too late to join the fun! Our registration is on a month-to-month basis and we can add new students mid-month. This is also a friendly reminder to existing families – now that March is over, you will need to re-register your kids for April, May and June.
