The Portland Outdoor Explorers are here to support teachers and parents during the Portland Association of Teachers (PAT) strike by providing fun and safe outdoor education for students K-5 who won’t be joining the protests.

Registration for full-day programs on strike days is now open.

POE would like to unequivocally express our support for PAT as they prepare to strike for our students and communities. As stated on their website:

“The Portland Association of Teachers bargaining team has negotiated for months in an attempt to reach an agreement, but PPS continues to ignore the voices within our community and invest in our schools in a way that will improve outcomes for our students and make important changes in the lives of our educators.”

POE knows Portland has fantastic teachers and we support their efforts to support our students and community. If you’re interested in supporting PAT, you can show solidarity in the following ways:

• Sign the PAT solidarity form.
• Purchase PAT merchandise.
• Join teachers on the picket line.
• Donate to the PAT strike fund. (Your donations will go to strike support including supplies, food, water, logistics, and community support. Any funds remaining will be donated back to community resiliency funds and local mutual aid networks.)
