In the wake of the 2024 election results, Portland Outdoor Explorers wanted to make sure our friends and families understood that we planned to remain the safe place for all children as we always have been and always will be, regardless of the political landscape of the country. That remains true even as the current president has threatened off and on to “ban” Black History Month and other observances. We at Portland Outdoor Explorers recognize and respect the history of Black Americans.
If you haven’t had time to register your student(s) for February After-School Programs, no worries! There is always time and space available with us! Simply click the button bellow to register your student(s). Remember, we offer discounts for siblings!
“There is No Such Thing as Bad Weather, Only Bad Clothing!”
POE remains a predominantly outdoor program, and will endeavor to be outside as much as and whenever possible. Please ensure your student(s) are equipped with the necessary cool weather gear for their safety and ours.
This includes, but may not be limited to the following:
– A backpack
– Extra snacks
– A rain or snow jacket
– Weather-appropriate layers (such as long johns, additional shirts, etc.)
– Rainboots and/or all-weather shoes
– Scarves, hats, and gloves as needed
At this time, the Portland Outdoor Explorers is unable to provide these accommodations for your student(s).

IN THE EVENT OF SNOW:
As long as the streets remain safe to drive, we’ll be running program during our usual hours and doing our best to spend time outside while it is safe to do so. In the event of inclement weather, a member of the POE team will email registered participants regarding any changes in our program.
We understand that as the weather changes, plans may need to change at a moment’s notice for both Portland Public Schools and parents.

Are you Ready for Summer?
It may be getting colder right now, but summer is right around the corner and approaching faster than you may think. Portland Outdoor Explorers is excited to say we’ll be having another Sword and Sorcery Summer Camp with outdoor lessons and activities cleverly disguised as fantasy-themed games! We’ll also be playing plenty of D&D, dressing up, having water balloon fights, and so much more to keep our students safe, hydrated, and above all – having the time of their lives!
