There may be some potential snow days ahead, but the Portland Outdoor Explorers are ready for anything, and looking forward to a February without too much going on.
If you haven’t registered for February After School Programming yet, don’t worry: it’s not too late!
Heading Outside!
The Portland Outdoor Explorers are a predominantly outdoor program. As long as it is safe to do so, we will be outside! For this reason, we ask that your explorer come to camp equipped for the adventure ahead. Remember:
Lately, many of our explorers have come to camp dressed for a day of indoor adventures. While we want all of the explorers to be comfortable, when your explorer comes to camp without the proper gear, it prevents us from spending time outside. For this reason, we ask that your explorer always come to camp ready for a day of outdoor adventures. Even if we end up spending the whole program inside, it’s better to have the right equipment and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

It’s never too early to start thinking about Summer Camp!
This year, Portland Outdoor Explorers will be hosting another fun and fast-paced Sword and Sorcery Summer Camp. If you register during the month of February, you’ll receive a 5% discount to your whole order when you use code “earlybird” at check out.
Don’t forget, we also offer a 15% discount for siblings!
Our 4th Annual Fundraiser is coming up next month! We still have a ways to go before the event takes place, but we’re excited to be hosting an open house for this year’s fundraiser. Parents and guardians will have a chance to see what a day in our child-led program may look like as they are invited to a self-paced tour of the room, a silent auction, and so much more!
We’ll have more information closer to the date, so please keep your eyes peeled!
Upcoming Events
February 2026 is going to be a quiet month for us, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have ANY plans!
On Monday, February 16th, Portland Public Schools will close in observance of President’s Day.
The Portland Outdoor Explorers will have a full day camp from 8:30am to 5:30pm.
We will begin our day at our outdoor location at Rose City Park at the corner of NE 62nd and NE Thompson.

Friday, February 20th is our next Guardians’ Night Off! This month, by very popular demand, we’ll be watching The Princess Bride!
This even will run from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at our indoor location at Rose City Park United Methodist Church!
We’ll be serving dinner, drinks, and snacks, so be sure to bring an appetite as well as any stuffies, pajamas, blankets, or pillows you want!
