It’s Warming Up!
We’ve been enjoying some beautiful days outside, lately, and hope to continue being able to do so. Ensuring your explorer(s) are equipped with the right gear helps make that happen! Remember…

We ask that explorers be prepared to face a rainy day (in case the weather turns on us suddenly), come to camp in weather-appropriate layers, and has water proof shoes.
Upcoming Events

Monday, March 2nd is a no-school day for Portland Public Schoolers.
Portland Outdoor Explorers will have an all day camp from 8:30am to 5:30pm. We’ll be setting up camp at Rose City Park on the corner of NE Thompson St and NE 62nd Ave.
Please make sure your explorer(s) is equipped with the following required gear:
- A backpack
- Weather-appropriate layers
- Closed toed and heeled water proof shoes
- A refillable water bottle
- A hearty lunch
- Plenty of snacks
Please note: the bathrooms at the park are still closed for the season and the water fountain is shut off. As explorers need to use the bathroom, we’ll be transporting them to our indoor location at Rose City Park United Methodist Church to use the facilities and refill water bottles. For this reason, if your explorer is attending but does not have permission to ride in our van, please reach out to us at info@pdxoutdoorexplorers.com to coordinate alternate plans and/or discuss a temporary/conditional transport plan.

On Saturday, March 14th, P.O.E. Will be celebrating our fourth year in operation with our annual fundraiser!
This year, we’ll be offering an open house style event designed to give explorers and guardians an idea of what our 100% child-led program looks like. Come play our board games, read our books, make art, dress up, build forts, or just hang out with our stuffies!
This event will take place in our indoor space, The Mossy Rock (aka room 8 just outside Youngson Hall).
We have so many new and exciting items for our annual silent auction as well this year, including returning favorites such as boffers (this time they’re DOUBLE-SIDED!), a 4 hour session of D&D to be scheduled within the calendar year, a free Guardians’ Night Off and more! This year, however, we’ve added new items such as a completely personalized crochet creature that you and/or your explorer can dictate to our staff, and have made 100% unique and just for you! There’s also a night of babysitting (separate from the GNO coupon), and…
Best of all, we have generously donated gifts from other members of our great NE Neighborhood, such as a discounted massage from bodyworks expert and owner and operator of Cosmos Collective, Andi Gherard.
There’s tons more happening at this event, but if we told you everything now, then there wouldn’t be anything left to surprise you with.
We hope to see you on Saturday the 14th to help us celebrate everything we’ve done and everything we still have to do!

You can’t keep a good movie down! This Friday, March 20th is our next Guardians’ Night Off, featuring the highly requested film: The Princess Bride.
